Probono Law Student The candidate will join the organization that is a not-for-profit legal assistance program committed to focusing attention through the legal system on the needs of low-income rural New Yorkers. The organization’s Judges' Best Practices CLE Pro Bono Program is a significant component of its entire mission. In order to expand pro bono resources for rural clients, the organization offers free, accredited CLE trainings for rural attorneys designed and taught by the local judiciary. Types of projects in need of Pro Bono help: Client counseling (e.g., brief advice), Draft legal documents (e.g., briefs), Litigation: Trial/Direct Representation. Law Students will be considered. French, Russian, Spanish, American Sign Language skills are preferred. Area of law: Consumer, Debt/Credit/Bankruptcy, Disaster and Emergency Assistance, Education, Elder Law, Family & Juvenile, Foreclosure, Housing, Public Benefits.
