Compliance Officer Duties: Design, develop and implement the company’s compliance efforts, unifying existing functions into a global program; areas will include, for example, antitrust, anti-bribery, data protection, privacy, employment and securities trading. Identify compliance program needs, draft and maintain appropriate written policies, procedures, practice directions, training and education as well as related communication. Monitor effectiveness and report on a periodic basis to senior management and the Enterprise Risk Committee. Partner and collaborate with internal and external resources and counsel to ensure regional compliance. Monitor the evolving federal, state and industry guidelines affecting the company’s overall compliance program and adopt and implement processes and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance. Identify key areas for focus and ensure that all employees receive appropriate training; ensure appropriate levels of compliance awareness and accountability across the organization. Develop and maintain effective and appropriate policies, procedures, and supporting documentation to demonstrate compliance with all applicable law and regulation. Advise on appropriate policies and procedures to ensure Company’s foreign subsidiaries, branches, and representative offices are compliant with applicable laws and regulations, including employment laws. Plan and execute long-term compliance and regulatory strategies. Will involve some international and domestic travel.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: JD Degree from a top accredited law school combined with a distinguished law school record. Admission to Connecticut Bar (or eligibility for licensing in Connecticut as In-House Counsel). 5+ years legal, compliance and management experience in high growth and/or dynamic environments with positive career progression. Experience with data licensing and intellectual property is a plus. Experience in a dynamic, growing company, using key performance indicators to improve performance in an operational setting. The ability to interact confidently with colleagues and adversaries and to translate difficult legal principles into practical business solutions. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, drafting and communication skills. Energetic, decisive, hard-working, detail-oriented, hands-on personality with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to gain respect and influence others. Quick learner with a high degree of common sense and resourcefulness, and the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks. Highest levels of integrity, discretion and maturity.
