Legal Secretary Ii The candidate holds an important role as the duties include accurate preparation of a variety of legal correspondence, legal notices and forms, processing electronic court filings with State and Federal courts along with calendaring deadlines and file maintenance. This position provides legal secretarial support for two or more attorneys. Should have 3+ years experience as a legal secretary, be organized, detail oriented self-starter with excellent grammar and writing skills, able to multi-task. Civil litigation experience, is preferred. Knowledge needed: Knowledge of the Arizona and Federal Rules of Civil Procedures. Knowledge of civil/forfeiture legal procedures, techniques, terminology, and forms. Knowledge of utilizing Electronic Court Filing software. Knowledge of legal notices and forms sufficient to complete them from marginal notes, standard paragraphs, verbal/written instructions, and/or similar forms. Knowledge of various computer programs, including but not limited to, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and electronic case management systems. Skills needed: Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in handling detailed work with accuracy and speed. Skill in managing and handling a heavy work load under pressure with multiple deadlines. Skill in grammar, punctuation, spelling, basic editing and formatting of a wide variety of legal documents. Skill in composing various complex legal correspondence, pleadings and legal notices. Skill in researching and extracting information from statutes, codes, legal documents and court decisions. Abilities needed: Ability to calendar court and case imposed deadlines. Ability to organize, prioritize and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously to include timely filing and file organization. Ability to handle a wide range of administrative support functions. Ability to maintain a high volume case load without any difficulty. Ability to utilize automated case management systems and follow office procedures for maintaining and tracking records. Ability to proficiently use various types of equipment, including computer, keyboard, copiers and printers. Ability to prioritize and plan large scale projects and to be well organized and analytical. Ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with other agency employees and high-level public officials. Ability to understand the attorney/client relationship including the need for confidentiality and discretion. Ability to form and maintain cordial working relationships with all level of staff and supervisors/AGO leadership.
