Biotech Patent Attorney The candidate will be responsible for: US patent drafting; US and foreign patent prosecution; patent administrative proceedings; IP portfolio strategy; invention development; inventor education; patentability; and landscape analysis. Should have an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) and strong background in microbiology, biochemistry, or molecular biology. Ph.D. in biochemistry, protein sciences, enzymology, microbiology, or other like disciplines is preferred. Must have 5+ years of experience in drafting and prosecuting Biotech (USPTO TC1600) patent applications as a registered US Patent Professional. Should preferably have 2+ years of post-graduate R&D laboratory experience. Must have experience working with foreign associates to assist and coordinate filing and prosecution of international patent matters. Should have drafted and filed 10+ priority patent applications on distinct inventions within the subject matters of USPTO TC1600, during the past 3 years. Ability to connect scientific details of research projects with patentability considerations is required. Experience developing and implementing IP strategies, assisting with freedom to-operate analyses, and IP portfolio analyses is needed. Some law firm experience is a plus. Familiarity with sequence listings is desired. Experience in working with business and technical teams to develop IP strategies for technical programs is an asset.
