Patent Legal Assistant The candidate will prepare documents from forms/templates and attorney-provided materials, including Intellectual Property applications (patent and trademark) documents for filing. Calculate estimates of filing costs. Organize and upload documents for e-filing with various patent & trademark offices. Review Office Actions and other communications from patent & trademark offices and prepare response templates for attorney completion. Correspond with clients regarding the status of applications and other files or matters, and coordinate transmittal of signed documents (declarations, etc.). Monitor a docket for approaching due dates. Work closely with the docketing staff and office services to ensure all dates are docketed. Maintain precise follow-ups and reminders. Obtain copies of patents and articles and prepare Information Disclosure Statements (IDS). Develop and document client procedures and best practices. Maintain electronic and/or physical files. Miscellaneous typing, copying and other clerical tasks.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have an Associate degree. A minimum of three(3) years of experience in patent prosecution is required. Must work well in a professional, team, and fast paced environment, have strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in order to meet deadlines. Must have an excellent technology skill set including a proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, and ideally, have familiarity with Thomson IP Manager, Anaqua, or other IP docketing software, and/or time and billing software. United States work authorization is required.
