Legal and Complicance - Attorney, VP DUTIES: Handle legal matters related to Blackstone’s general account insurance clients, including investment structuring and support, investment management agreement negotiation and monitoring, insurance regulatory filings, and coordination with underlying Blackstone business units that sub-manage insurance client accounts with respect to certain asset classes. Provide transactional support, including with respect to regulatory matters, of the investment teams on a broad range of investments, including public and private credit, structured products and private fund investments. Support relating to M&A activity focused on insurance companies. Handle legal matters related to the structuring and distribution of Blackstone’s products, including private funds and structured products. Prepare regular reports to the portfolio managers and senior management regarding legal and compliance matters. Work with other members of the legal and compliance team to ensure that Compliance Policies and Procedures and Form ADV Part 2, are current, and to identify and address areas where policies and procedures need to be developed or amended. Liaise with operations, finance, tax, government relations/public affairs, fund formation and compliance teams on a variety of matters, including client onboarding and monitoring, signing and closing processes, regulatory matters and LP and co-investor matters.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have an undergraduate degree and a law degree. Must have 4+ years of directly related experience as an attorney in a law firm investment funds or credit group or with a credit-oriented asset manager. Must have substantial knowledge of relevant rules and regulations and the day-to-day affairs of private funds. Should have an understanding of credit instruments and assets (e.g., public debt securities, loan syndications, CLOs and other asset backed credit securities, direct lending, mortgage loans) is a strong plus. Knowledge of insurance regulatory issues is not required, but a strong plus. Must have demonstrated ability to write effectively; superior organizational skills; and strong communication skills. Should have strong technical skills, sharp intellect, and ability to understand difficult, complex compliance and business problems; ability to work with colleagues to devise pragmatic and creative solutions; ability for prioritization, perspective and focus on critical tasks that add value; excellent organizational skills and follow-through; highly effective oral and written communication; outstanding record of academic achievement and professional accomplishment; strong judgment and the ability to engender trust; sense of urgency, diligent and conscientious work ethic; calm demeanor, tolerance for ambiguity and confidence
