Public Defender I The candidate will represent defendants in routine municipal ordinance and traffic cases. Will provide legal representation, advice, and consultation to defendants assigned to the Municipal Public Defender's Office. Represent defendants at arraignments and for bond arguments. Prepare routine pleadings, motions, orders, and other papers required for trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings. Make motions for continuances, dismissals, reduction of bail, and new trials and represents defendants at numerous court hearings to include trials. Interview defendants and witnesses to gather information in preparation for trial. Assist higher level attorneys in the preparation and defense of more difficult cases. Should have graduated from a college of law with a J.D. or a LL.B. degree. Should have a license to practice law in Colorado from the Colorado Supreme Court at the time of application. Should preferably have experience working with indigent populations. Bilingual or multilingual skills are desired. Application Deadline: March 18, 2018.
