A law firm located in Houston, TX is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Labor and Employment Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will possess over five years of experience in handling a broad range of employment law issues. This role involves drafting workplace policies, conducting employee training, and counseling both public and private employers on various employment-related matters. The position requires excellent writing, communication, and legal research skills, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and review workplace policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
  • Conduct employee training sessions on various employment law topics.
  • Provide legal counsel to public and private employers on day-to-day employment issues.
  • Handle employment law matters including workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour disputes.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery requests, and motions.
  • Represent clients in employment-related litigation, including preparation for trial and settlement negotiations.
  • Interface directly with attorneys and clients to provide legal advice and strategies.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies for complex employment law cases.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Admission to the Texas Bar.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in labor and employment law.
  • Proven experience with employment law issues such as workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour disputes.
  • Extensive litigation experience including researching and drafting memoranda, pleadings, discovery requests, and motions.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate a solid work ethic.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective legal strategies.
