Legal Secretary III The candidate performs complex litigation secretarial duties for the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) General Litigation Division. Work involves providing secretarial support for three attorneys. Types, edits, proofreads and finalizes complex legal documents, briefs, pleadings, correspondence and other complex legal documents for two or more attorneys. Develops, coordinates and maintains record keeping and filing systems for complex and paper intensive cases’ assists legal staff in complying with all-time accounting policies and procedures; maintains timekeeping records. Schedules meetings, appointments, interviews, depositions and court appearances for attorneys; coordinates travel arrangements for division personnel; prepares vouchers and administrative forms. Contacts courts or court reporter to ensure attendance for depositions and court appearances; obtains and follows requirements for proper filing and delivery of complex legal documents in all state and federal courts. Drafts routine pleadings and correspondence for attorneys’ review; participates in case management. Performs related work as assigned. Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions. Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information. Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity. Must have Graduation from high school or equivalent. Should have 1 year full-time general administrative, clerical, or secretarial experience; may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university OR completion of legal secretarial training for experience. Must have 3 years full-time experience as a legal secretary. Must have knowledge of practice of law resulting in ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Should have ability to type 45 wpm.
