Fall Internship
The internship program provides college students with the opportunity to enhance their education while working in an office of a leader. Participation in the program allows interns the ability to gain valuable inner-office experience as well as increase their knowledge of issues important to both the Commonwealth and the country. Interns gain firsthand knowledge of the legislative process and daily activities of the federal government. If selected to be an intern, will be assigned as either a legislative or press intern. Legislative interns assist staff by researching current legislation and drafting constituent responses. Press interns assist staff by tracking current news and legislation, assisting with press events and drafting press releases. All interns perform other daily office duties including: sorting mail, making copies, giving tours of the Capitol, and answering telephones. Interns are selected on the basis of strong scholastic and extracurricular achievements as well as an interest in the governmental process.
