We are looking for an investigative researcher with a demonstrated passion for and aptitude in investigations, primary research, public information research, and/or open-source intelligence (OSINT). Key Responsibilities Conduct in-depth research on individuals and corporate entities using the full range of U.S. and international public records and open sources in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment; Generate actionable intelligence and identify red and yellow flags via public records and open sources; validate sources and make smart judgment calls and assessments about the completeness, accuracy and significance of the information; Summarize the results of the research accurately and concisely in well-written reports for a sophisticated client base across a wide range of industries; Assist during investigations and other assignments in varied capacities, including tracking and analyzing information derived in the course of investigations, organizing and monitoring project-specific tasks, and drafting investigative memoranda; Support management team on other duties as assigned, including in the development of business proposals and marketing materials, operational and administrative matters, etc. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Demonstrated passion for and aptitude in investigations, primary research, public information research, and/or open-source intelligence (OSINT) Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent analytic skills and attention to detail and accuracy Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to challenging investigative or research problems Ability to efficiently manage several projects, deadlines and tasks at once Familiarity with databases such as LexisNexis, Clear, CourtLink, Westlaw, and Factiva Experience in conducting public information and internet research, including boolean and advanced open-source intelligence (OSINT) resources and techniques Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and Google docs Desired Qualifications JD or Master’s degree Certified Fraud Examiner credential 3+ years of experience in investigative/legal research, preferably from a larger consultancy or established investigations firm Familiarity with U.S. courts and financial markets, including legal and financial nomenclature, and an ability to draft accurate, concise summaries and analyses of complex transactions and civil litigation using public records and information Experience in financial analysis and advanced spreadsheet skills Experience conducting investigative interviews is a plus Extensive experience working with a broad range of public records, including criminal and civil litigation, bankruptcies, regulatory filings, corporation records, property records, international corporate documents and public records Expertise in public records and information databases (e.g. LexisNexis, Clear, Westlaw, Factiva, etc.) Experience assigning work, negotiating budgets and deadlines Experience conducting background investigations or comparable investigative work Ability to anticipate issues and independently develop investigative plans Expertise in navigating public records at all levels of government, including internationally, as well as laws concerning investigations and privacy, such as FCRA Expertise and demonstrated success in using the FOIA Serious candidates should submit resume and cover letter.
