The ideal candidate will have significant experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, managing patent portfolios, and conducting due diligence investigations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, file, and prosecute . and international patent applications in the biotechnology and life sciences industries.
  • Conduct patentability assessments and freedom-to-operate analyses for biotech innovations.
  • Manage patent portfolios, advising clients on IP strategy aligned with their business objectives.
  • Perform due diligence investigations for mergers, acquisitions, and licensing deals related to biotechnology patents.
  • Respond to office actions and interact with the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and international patent offices during prosecution.
  • Collaborate with partners, associates, and technical staff to develop comprehensive patent strategies for clients.
  • Provide legal opinions on issues of patent infringement, validity, and enforceability.
  • Assist in patent litigation matters, including oppositions, re-examinations, and appeals.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and developments in biotechnology and patent law to better serve clients.
  • Maintain and foster strong client relationships, providing proactive and tailored legal solutions to meet their needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: . in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related scientific field.
  • Certification: Registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Experience: 3-8 years of relevant experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, evaluating patent portfolios, and performing due diligence investigations, preferably in a law firm setting.
