Paralegal Specialist The candidate prepares guardianship petitions and related legal pleadings for filing in various probate courts; tracks all court approved medication orders and arranges for periodic court reviews of these orders. Works with physicians and other professional health care providers to obtain affidavits and other documents necessary for court reviews; maintains and updates both paper and electronic case files; maintains electronic filing systems with a schedule of return dates, hearing and trial dates, etc. File cases in the various probate courts throughout the Commonwealth, process court documents to ensure that all parties receive copies, establish and maintain good working relationships with court personnel, attorneys, families, service coordinators and carry out other related duties as may be assigned. Must have 2+ years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, paraprofessional experience in legal research or legal assistant work, or any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: An Associate's or higher degree with a major in paralegal studies may be substituted for the required experience. Completion of one year of study at a recognized, degree-granting law school may be substituted for the required experience. Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License may be required.
