Associate General Counsel
The candidate will advise the business on regulatory matters, including, but not limited to compliance with rules and regulations applicable to: (i) the FCM (such as the Commodity Exchange Act, related regulations, derivatives exchange rules); (ii) the BD; (iii) the SD; and (iv) the Company’s agricultural OTC offering, among other areas. Consult with and provide advice to the Company’s Risk Management Unit and update the FCM’s and SD’s written Risk Management Program as appropriate. Interpret new regulations and advisories and changes in regulation and advise the Company’s business units accordingly. Draft and review written policies and procedures related to the Company’s FCM, SD and BD. Provide guidance and application support for foreign operations, including regulatory applications for new subsidiaries and working with foreign counsel on regulatory matters. Work with outside counsel on regulatory investigations and litigation matters, manage such investigations and litigation internally, assist in any discovery process, guide internal decision makers involved and minimize risk exposure. Contribute to legal team initiatives to increase the efficiency and operations of the Company and the Legal Department through the development and improvement of systems, standardized agreements, policies, best practice procedures and training. Other projects arise and/or are assigned.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have 6-8 years of experience at a law firm, government or in-house. A Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school. Previous experience or coursework in financial services, especially for FCMs, SDs and Broker-Dealers, is preferred. Strong interpersonal interaction skills to work with a broad range of others within and outside the company. Advance knowledge of the law as it pertains to financial services regulation and other matters. Strong research skills to address legal issues as they arise. Excellent writing and communication skills. Excels at critical thinking. Able to work independently. Good attention to detail. Able to prioritize competing tasks with minimal guidance.
