Junior Paralegal Candidate will support the Research Senior Associate General Counsel and Contracts Management Attorney in all stages of transactions related to research compliance, research agreements, innovation and intellectual property and related corporate and start-up company transactions and matters. Responsible for the life cycle of a contract and all aspects of contract administration for example, contracts are entered into a computer management system in a timely manner and return reviewed contract to the requesting party. Provide advice and counsel by acting as a liaison between the organization and the Legal Department in regards to contract and corporate matters with an emphasis on research and innovation contracts and transactions, including but not limited to, clinical trial agreements and license agreements. Serve as part of a cohort of paralegals who review contracts on behalf of the organization. Provide administrative and operational support to the Research attorney (Senior Associate General Counsel) and as needed to the other attorneys in the Legal Department. Support all systems, policies and practices that effectively optimize outcomes, minimize risk and eliminate preventable waste in relation to Research and Innovation. Support the Senior Associate General Counsel, Contracts Management Attorney, and the Office of General Counsel in governance related issues as needed especially in matters related to research and innovation. Support the Senior Associate General Counsel, Contracts Management Attorney and the Office of General Counsel in all interactions with Children’s National Office of Grants & Contracts/Research Administration, and the Foundation. Support the Senior Associate General Counsel and the Office of General Counsel in all interactions with Office of Grants & Contracts/Research Administration. In all responsibilities noted herein, will appropriately seek advice, direction, and approval from the Contracts Management Attorney and Senior Associate General Counsel and other attorneys within the Office of General Counsel. Help ensure that other faculty and staff follow such policy and procedure, and will strive to maintain the highest standards of integrity, organization, responsiveness, courtesy, and professional skill in alignment with the vision, mission, and goals. Provide support to the Senior Associate General Counsel and other attorneys in relation to administrative support and coordination and arrangement of multi-party teleconferences, meetings, databases, office processes and other administrative tasks as requested or established by the foregoing persons. Participate in regular Legal and Risk Department responsibilities including offering advice, taking phone calls from our customers with questions, supporting the resolution of legal or risk issues(especially those having a real-time impact on operations or safety) and taking regular on-call responsibilities as they may apply. Drive a culture that prioritizes compliance with the law, ethical business practices, robust reporting and shared learning around best corporate and contract practices. Support and ensure compliance with related regulations or expectations, including the regulations administered by the U.S. Health and Human Services divisions such as the Office for Human Research Protection (OHRP), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the corresponding Childrens National offices of the Office for the Protection of Human Subjects (OPHS) /IRB and Office of Grants and Contracts. Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree. Paralegal Certificate strongly preferred. 1-3 years of paralegal experience. Basic understanding of contracts and agreements. Keen attention to detail with good organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and able to handle a high volume of work with deadlines. Strong computer technical skills and ability to use a variety of software and electronic platforms. Must have the ability to handle extremely sensitive, confidential matters and exercise sound discretion and judgment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Experience at a University or Academic Medical Center or within a pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotechnology company is highly desirable.
