AVP Enterprise & Operations Risk Management
Duties: Under the direction of the VP of Risk Management, responsible for implementation and oversight of Enterprise & Operational Risk Management programs. Will ensure line of business partners understand and are communicating key risks affecting their respective operations, establish and manage Operational Risk as well as develop and maintain a centralized tool that reflects various relevant metrics affecting the safety and soundness of the credit union. Provides recommendations and input to Senior and Executive Management during the development and implementation of Enterprise Risk Management solutions and methodologies in accordance with Credit Union’s Strategic Plan and Statements of Direction. Directs staff and initiatives that support risk management programs, to include governance support, risk oversight, risk infrastructure development, identification, quantification, and aggregation of key and emerging risks and/or operational risks and controls. Provides counsel to business unit managers on risk management issues and supports the evaluation of new product strategies on their impact to risk profile. Accountable for the development, implementation and oversight of risk management frameworks. Formulates risk management policies, procedures and standards in conjunction with senior management and risk management committees Educates risk owners on risk management best practices and may work with other risk functions in the development and implementation of risk controls. Manages processes for collecting accurate and complete internal loss data from business areas. May direct analysis and data mining initiatives that identify, validate, and manage emerging risk exposures. Assists in the early identification of risk trends by establishing and monitoring key performance and risk indicators. Oversees the preparation of key reports and communications and may present to governance committees, senior leaders, regulatory bodies and the SSFCU Board of Directors Understands and monitors the evolving nature of risks affecting the financial services industry, and the appropriate methods and tools to centrally monitor those risks. Oversees the input and tracking of Key Risk Indicators used to monitor exposure to Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, Interest Rate Risk, Transaction Risk, Compliance Risk, Reputation Risk, Strategic Risk. Ensures that Key Risk Indicators effectively gauge desired information. Researches and recommends alternative metrics that may more accurately or efficiently convey information. Works with business unit leaders to capture key sources of relevant risk information specific to their lines of business. Mitigates financial risk by working with business unit leaders to develop sources of information that may act as Early Warning Indicators. Facilitates strategic risk-focused communication between business unit leaders. Additional Job Responsibilities Administers NCUA safety and soundness examination, including the communication of examination request items to appropriate line of business, ensures the line of business submits all necessary information, and acts as a liaison between examiners and lines of business. Develops industry contacts and information sources to monitor developments related to Enterprise Risk Management. Monitors regulatory trends affecting consumer compliance, credit risk, interest rate risk, and liquidity risk. Monitors CFPB related publications and enforcement actions. Oversees the development of Enterprise Risk Management staff by assessing skills and behaviors, providing timely and appropriate feedback and providing developmental opportunities. Perform other functions or tasks at the direction of the VP of Risk Management.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field and 7 years’ experience in financial services and/or banking industry. Graduate degree in Law, Business Administration, or Finance strongly preferred. Direct experience of SSFCU financial products and services preferred. Requires comprehensive knowledge of current federal, state and NCUA regulations applicable to the credit union environment. Working knowledge of key financial ratios. Working knowledge of regulatory and administrative law.
