Job Title: Family Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Fairfax, VA is seeking a dedicated Family Law Attorney to join its growing team. This role focuses on representing clients in domestic law matters, such as divorce, child custody and support, adoptions, and protective orders. The ideal candidate has a passion for litigation and works collaboratively to provide top-tier client service.

Duties:

• Conduct comprehensive legal research relevant to family law cases (divorce, child custody/support, adoptions).
• Represent clients in court hearings, including return hearings and pretrial conferences.
• Prepare and draft legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and orders.
• Advise clients on their rights and obligations.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff to develop case strategies.
• Effectively manage deadlines and ensure timely case progression.

Requirements:

• Active Virginia State Bar membership in good standing.
• Demonstrated strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Own reliable transportation for commuting to court and client meetings.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admittance to the Virginia State Bar.
• Candidates who have recently taken or plan to take the Virginia Bar Exam may be considered.

Skills:

• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in drafting legal documents and court pleadings.
• Excellent time management and organizational capabilities.
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not mandatory.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
