City Attorney DUTIES: Responsible for representing all City departments, except the proprietary departments, in employment related litigation brought against the City by its current and former employees. The practice has a strong focus on employment litigation related to public safety employees.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: Trial experience; 10 years of civil litigation experience with a focus on employment litigation practice in California Courts; Strong research and writing skills in complex areas of law; Strong knowledge of California civil procedural rules; Ability to deal effectively with public officials, departmental personnel and members of the public; Strong oral communication skills; Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment; and Licensed to practice law in all courts in the State of California and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Highly desirable: Significant experience with state and federal employment claims, including, the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, CFRA, USERRA and Labor Code § 1102.5 Whistleblower claims; Experience with traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining rights and grievance/arbitration processes; Familiarity with wage and hour class actions, including Fair Labor Standards Act claims; Federal Court litigation experience; and Appellate experience.
