Legal Analyst The candidate will be responsible for: Researching and analyzing federal and state regulations, including Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), and opinion letters and studies issued by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA). Reviewing existing and emerging legislation for applicability to impacted Company products in the automotive, aerospace, and fire protection industries. Preparing legal summaries, responding to questions relating to research, and organizing results of research gathered from various sources. Tracking changes to regulations applicable to the Company and its subsidiaries. Assisting with corporate compliance, policies, procedures, and submitting documentation under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Supporting company data privacy initiatives, including compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Health Information Technology for Economic Health and Clinical Act (HITECH), and foreign data privacy regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Performing general administrative tasks, including drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, and file management. Resolving routine compliance matters requiring legal support and communicating with in-house clients on regulatory matters with appropriate attorney supervision. Assisting with Legal Department contract management, maintenance of the corporate policy center, and training initiatives. Performing other duties as assigned. Should have subject matter experience researching and interpreting regulations in at least two of the following areas is required: automotive; aerospace; fire protection; environmental; occupational safety and health; data privacy and security; and/or corporate regulations. 3-5 years' regulatory or compliance experience with a law firm, corporation, or governmental agency is preferred. A bachelor's degree or a paralegal certification are preferred but may be substituted with demonstrated work experience.
