Assistant Attorney General The candidate will prosecute criminal cases including but not limited to the offenses referenced below, in the Superior Courts of the State of Arizona. The prosecutors support investigations of and prosecute complex white collar, fraud, and economic crimes, including but not limited to: securities fraud, public corruption, identity theft, forgery, AHCCCS fraud, elder financial exploitation, credit card fraud, social security fraud, veterans' benefits fraud, and intellectual property violations. Support investigations of and prosecute criminal enterprises for drug trafficking, money laundering, and weapons trafficking, and may be required to apply for court-authorized electronic interception to support complex investigations. Also may be assigned additional responsibilities including but not limited to: conflict prosecutions from various county attorney offices; review of internal affairs investigations; drafting of legislative proposals related to criminal law/procedure; trainings to law enforcement/criminal justice community on criminal law, criminal procedure, and constitutional law; determinations of Superior Court criminal contempt referrals; and any investigations/prosecutions or assignments at the direction of supervisors in the Criminal Division.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have admission to, and good standing with, the Arizona State Bar (include on resume the date(s) of admission in Arizona and any other states). Should have 2-3 years of experience as a felony prosecutor immediately preceding the candidate's application. Should have basic experience, or demonstrated ability to be trained, in investigating and prosecuting criminal enterprises for drug trafficking, money laundering, weapons trafficking, and human smuggling-related cases. Basic experience, or demonstrated ability to be trained, in court-authorized electronic interception to support complex investigations, or demonstrated ability to be trained is needed. Knowledge needed: Knowledge of Arizona criminal law procedures and court practices in Arizona. Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to be trained, in criminal investigations, interview techniques, pretrial litigation, and trial practice. Abilities needed: Ability to exercise reasoned judgment in high-pressure, time-sensitive working environment. Ability to be analytical. Ability to be creative. Ability to adapt to case developments and to make necessary and appropriate adjustments in strategies. Ability to prioritize and to manage multiple complex tasks. Ability to be timely, dependable and well-organized. Ability to advise law enforcement on constitutional requirements in conducting criminal investigations. Ability to effectively communicate with law enforcement, judges, opposing counsel, victims, and witnesses. Ability to form and maintain collaborative working relationships with all level of staff and supervisors/AGO leadership. Ability to be patient, including with co-workers, staff, victims, law enforcement agencies and community partners. Ability to interact with outside entities with diplomacy and tact. Ability to conduct legal research (particularly Westlaw).
