Director, Trade Compliance Responsibilities: Proactively partner with Product Teams, Engineering, Business and Technical Operations, and other internal and external teams to drive the design and influence the implementation of trade compliance in existing and new processes and services. Drive process improvements and efficiencies in the trade control program for Microsoft services, tools, and applications and related controls. Lead in the development and maintenance of trade program documentation and controls, including procedures, standards, process and data flows, and work guidance Interface, and partner with Microsoft stakeholders to proactively drive specific trade control-related improvements to services, systems, and processes. Develop a deep understanding of our business and future direction to help identify potential risks and control gaps, and develop mitigating strategies to minimize risk. Work with a high degree of autonomy; must be able to independently manage and collaborate with business and product groups, internal customers, and external vendors with minimal supervision. Lead, develop, implement, and manage all appropriate monitoring and key performance indicators and metrics for the trade compliance program. Develop and manage the internal Microsoft trade compliance program to track and archive activity, validate actions taken and archive evidence of those actions, and document program activities for internal or external audits. Conduct transactional due diligence, including in M&A transactions.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelorâ€™s degree in Business, Technology, Finance or Law degree from an accredited law school. 10+ years of experience in trade and/or sanction compliance including such areas as OFAC, AML/KYC, DPL, or export control. 15+ years of program/project management experience in business, compliance, or technology. Deep understanding of the leading practices, processes, and systems to manage the sanctions program and global trade regulatory requirements. Deep understanding of export and technology controls, including ECCN Classification, Deemed Export, technology control plans, and ITAR Controls. Preferred: Ability to communicate compliance requirements and information in way that is easily understood and actionable by engineers and the business. Knowledge of trade regulations and associated processes/controls to drive trade compliance. Relevant experience in legal environments or as an attorney to help analyze and address evolving domestic and international laws and regulations, and partner with the business to proactively drive appropriate business strategies. Readiness to provide ongoing training and development to educate on current and emerging trade regulations. Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Ability to communicate with individuals at various levels of the organization, including executive management and external customers/regulators. Prior people management experience or leading across teams as a strong individual contributor. Work effectively in a changing environment with overlapping deadlines and sometimes competing commitment timelines, and reprioritize as necessary to meet business objectives. Capability to work under pressure and within short time constraints in a complex system and business integrated environment. Capacity to navigate and resolve unstructured deliverables and problems with equanimity. Knowledge and use of data analytical queries or tools to drive reporting, metrics, and KPIs Detail oriented, self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven.
