IP Litigation Paralegal The candidate will assist managing all potential IP infringement matters, inbound and outbound. Work with internal teams and outside counsel resources to assess, triage, develop and execute matter management plans. Assist in the development and presentation of planning documents for each matter, e.g., time and cost budgets, tracking and reporting. Help manage document collection and other discovery issues for all matters. Track and manage any accused infringements of any third party IP and provide support as needed. Develop reporting tools and materials for management reviews of all litigation activities. Design, build, implement and manage e-discovery solutions, tools and best practices that minimize operational risks and costs while maximizing effectiveness and compliance. Assist other legal team-members regarding IP-related issues. Manage all internal files for tracking and docketing of all matters. Coordinate with internal brand protection team members, other internal personnel, and outside counsel on appropriate strategies for each matter. Assist with other legal, brand protection and compliance projects including due diligence requests, as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS). Should have IP law firm or corporate experience, especially formal patent and trademark litigation paralegal experience, preferred. Technical undergraduate degree in science, engineering or other technical fields relevant to JUUL products and services is helpful. Should have 4-7 years’ experience in a legal department or law firm focused on intellectual property enforcement and defensive efforts. Should have solid working knowledge of IP litigation processes from initial investigation through trial in United States and other key global jurisdictions. Litigation and IT management experience within a legal department in a high tech or startup environment is preferred. Should have working knowledge of IP concepts regarding the different types of IP assets – e.g., patent, design, trademark, copyright, unfair competition and other intellectual property assets.
