Elder Abuse Attorney The candidate must have a J.D. and be admitted to practice in the State of New York. Experience in elder law, elder abuse, domestic violence or victim advocacy is preferred. Will have excellent writing skills translatable to a variety of audiences, including motion practice in a variety of fora throughout New York City, including Family, Housing and Supreme Court, transactional legal documents as well as articles, policies and memos on a variety of elder justice issues for a legal and non-legal audience. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are also required. The position involves significant client contact, and the attorney will represent victims of elder abuse in various court systems. The attorney will play an active role within the shelterâ€™s multidisciplinary professional team, working to develop legal strategies for each client, as well as collaborating with law enforcement and other area agencies and organizations. Policy and legislative work on elder justice issues are also part of the portfolio for the position.
