A law firm in Hackensack, NJ, is seeking a seasoned Family Law Attorney with over a decade of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will excel in developing case strategies, drafting legal documents with clarity, and advocating effectively in family law matters. This role requires exceptional communication skills, both in explaining complex legal concepts and in managing a demanding caseload efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Write motions and legal briefs with flair and clarity.
- Develop legal case strategies and theories independently.
- Explain and simplify complex laws to clients and internal team members.
- Proactively clarify and re-explain legal concepts to prevent misunderstandings.
- Understand and adhere to court rules while finding creative arguments in case law, rules, or statutes.
- Provide comprehensive legal services, including legal research, drafting motions, pleadings, orders, judgments, and status updates.
- Oversee and analyze discovery processes.
- Appear in court for motions, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Ensure that assigned legal support staff meet deadlines and targets for the caseload.
- Capture and enter billable time into the firm's billing software daily.
- Review and manage own caseload vigilantly, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Provide timely and relevant legal services to clients.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- An active law license in good standing with the State of New Jersey.
- 10+ years of experience practicing law, with at least 95% of practice devoted to Divorce and Family Law.
- Strong legal research, storytelling writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in using case management systems and relevant hardware and software.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active law license in good standing with the State of New Jersey.
