Accounting Manager Responsibilities: Lead, direct and manage the Firm’s accounting operations including fiduciary accounting. Develop, plan and lead implementation of systems and procedures which utilize “best practices” to ensure: a) effective, efficient, and timely compliance with the Firm’s policies and b) proper internal controls and risk levels for the Firm with respect to accurate and timely accounting processes (for both general operations and fiduciary accounting) related to the various Firm functions including: General Ledger, Accounts Receivable , Accounts Payable, Payroll, Entertainment and Travel, Client Disbursements , Cost Recoveries, Firm Tickets , USPTO Processing, Fixed Assets , Client Trust Accounts , Unclaimed Property. Ensure the accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts to appropriate source document or detail on a monthly basis-and timely resolution of all reconciling items. Direct/coordinate timely preparation and distribution of the Firm’s monthly and annual financial statements (i.e., income statement, balance sheet and cash flows). Lead and coordinate the Firm’s fiscal year-end general ledger process as well as the independent audit. Coordinate documentation with banks and credit card companies to facilitate Firm’s financial services. Ensure the accuracy and timelines of payroll processing as well as the submission of payment and any required reporting for income tax withholdings (including W-2’s), unemployment taxes or other withholdings. Manage accounting staff by providing direction, coordinating work flow and monitoring performance. Conduct formal performance evaluations of subordinates and explain, interpret and administer Firm policies and work rules. Interview, hire, discipline, and supervise training of new departmental staff. Motivate staff to excel at what they do, to continue learning, and to support the Firm’s vision and values. Educate and train department employees in regards to how their function effects other staff or other departments. Provide daily/monthly/annual reporting of the Firm’s available cash and prepare projections of Firm cash flow. Distribute report per Firm procedures. Research and resolve technical questions related to tax (income, payroll, sales and use, property tax, etc.) and GAAP accounting. Develop, monitor and explain the budget and variances for the accounting operations portion of the budget. Oversee and assist with the accurate calculation of the Firm’s annual retirement plan contribution for employees and the related year-end accrual. Coordinate the required testing of Plan contribution levels. Plan, supervise and assist with the preparation of retirement plan audit and related tax work papers for use by external accountants. Ensure accurate submission of plan contribution data to the plan trustee on a semi-monthly and annual basis. Other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor degree in related area, CPA preferred. 4-6 years of experience with some supervisory experience. Demonstrated ability to coordinate the financial and management accounting functions of a diverse professional service organization. Work well under pressure; good problem solver. Ability to lead team. Skilled in training other. Analytical, strong attention to detail. Excellent communications skills and good customer service attitude.
