Assistant General Counsel Duties: Advising on a wide variety of legal matters, including contract drafting and negotiation, employment agreements, medical staff matters, patient care issues, litigation, risk management and compliance. Provide support to designated areas of the system on legal issues, including review of likely or pending litigation matters, providing legal advice to management and staff, and drafting and reviewing policy revisions in conformity with statutory and regulatory requirements; Researching a broad range of laws and regulations affecting the system, including federal and state laws and regulations affecting the licensing, certification and operation of healthcare facilities; Medicare and Medicaid, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback law, and antitrust issues; procurement; corporate compliance (including conflict of interest); and risk management. Draft, negotiate and review contracts and related documents, including for the provision of health care related services, procurement of goods and services, affiliation agreements, physician employment and services, leases of space and property, confidentiality of patient and proprietary information, intellectual property, and data sharing. Provide general legal advice to the system’s affiliated entities, senior management, medical staff leadership and employees on a wide variety of legal matters related to operational issues, including patient-related situations.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: JD Degree from an accredited institution; Admitted to the practice of law in at least one state of the United States, preferably New Jersey. 3-5 years of law firm or in-house counsel experience, primarily in the practice of health law.
