Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney to join its team. This role requires 5-7 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, either with significant litigation experience, particularly in privacy and class action matters, or with a strong background in transactional work, such as drafting and negotiating vendor and business customer service agreements. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric data regulations, and will play an integral role in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management. This position is available in Chicago, Dallas, or other offices, with a hybrid work schedule and weekly in-office expectations.

Location:

  • Bloomfield Hills, MI

Duties:

  • Advise clients on privacy and cybersecurity issues, including compliance with state and federal privacy laws such as CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric data laws
  • Handle privacy litigation matters, including class action lawsuits
  • Draft and negotiate vendor and business customer service agreements
  • Assist in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management related to data privacy issues
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients on data privacy and cybersecurity matters
  • Maintain client relationships and contribute to business development activities
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing, professional development, and firm-wide initiatives

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related practice areas
  • Experience in privacy litigation or transactional matters, particularly in vendor and service agreement drafting
  • Deep knowledge of state and federal privacy laws (., CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA) and biometric data regulations
  • Experience in breach response, compliance counseling, or risk management
  • Admission to the State Bar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and manage client relationships effectively

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited . law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification is preferred but not required

Skills:

  • Expertise in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Strong litigation or transactional drafting skills
  • Proficiency in breach response, compliance, and risk management
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
