Associate General Counsel - Commercial/CBR The candidate will provide legal counsel to the firm as a commercial program attorney, focusing particularly on all aspects of the CBR business, including counseling on marketing, sales, research, regulatory, and consumer matters. This role [is the sole dedicated legal counsel for firm’s CBR business and,] to be successful, the candidate will need to be able to collaborate with many departments across the firm’s business, as well as CBR’s leadership, on a broad range of legal and strategic matters. Should have prior experience working in a biotech company and comfort advising on advertising, data privacy, and other consumer protection laws. Serve as a legal generalist providing day-to-day legal support for commercial programs on a wide range of issues. Understand and be able to translate into “plain English” the legal ramifications of varied legal issues (including regulatory requirements) and clearly and succinctly articulate the risks and provide valuable advice and counsel within the context of the broader business and enterprise level objectives. Act as a business partner to the CBR leadership team and staff providing solutions-oriented legal advice that furthers CBR’s and its parent company, the firm’s business strategies. Draft and review confidentiality agreements, vendor agreements, supply and service agreements, research sponsorship agreements, material transfer agreements, and other contracts. Review all promotional materials and other external communications to help ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Counsel on matters related to privacy/security, including HIPAA/HITECH. Work collaboratively and responsively with a broad range of stakeholders -- a true cross-functional role. Juggle multiple priorities. Proactively communicate and manage expectations with multiple constituencies. Set a tone of the highest legal and ethical standards of conduct, and possess the poise to achieve highly effective working relationships throughout the Company and externally. Select and manage outside counsel, as needed. Undergraduate degree from a college or university of recognized standing is essential. Should have law degree with strong academic credentials. Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in at least one state within the United States, preferably California. Should have 5+ years of experience focused on life sciences, consumer protection, or general corporate law. A combination of both in-house in a biotechnology company and law firm practice is ideal. Should preferably have significant experience counselling on consumer protection matters. Experience with FTC, FDA and trade compliance matters is a plus. Closing Date: 2018-03-16.
