Compliance Counsel Duties: Keep abreast of all proposed and enacted rules and regulations impacting operations with an emphasis on marketing, advertising, new product development (ancillary products, payment processing tools, automotive brand support) Provide guidance and regulatory compliance legal counsel regarding required operational changes due to new or modified rules and regulations impacting business and track according for change management purposes. Review marketing, digitalization, and ancillary product materials to ensure the actual terms and conditions of the product are reflected, and advertisements are in compliance with consumer financial protection laws and regulations. Recommend changes and propose draft language, when necessary, based on federal and state laws and regulations. Review new product development initiatives and projects for consumer compliance risk and provide recommendations and propose draft language, when necessary. Review AFSA database on a daily basis to review all state and federal legislation introduced relating to marketing, product development, and ancillary products. Analyze purpose of legislation and assess how it may impact our business units. Track legislation that will impact VW Credit, Inc. and send regular updates to business unit managers. Provide recommendations as necessary to business unit managers. Support the Product Development team, along with the Marketing, Digitalization, and Remarketing teams, in ongoing efforts to introduce new products and technologies by providing recommendations regarding the collection, organization, and use of data from multiple sources. Analyze data and assess compliance risks in order to provide regulatory oversight, training, and quality assurance reviews. Research federal and state regulations, benchmark, and provide recommendations and regulatory guidance for special projects and new product development initiatives. Serve as Compliance subject matter expert and advise business partners regarding their obligations under the VW Credit, Inc. regulatory compliance policies. Guide the Digitalization team, Marketing, and Product Development departments on the development and maintenance of processes and procedures. Review guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to marketing, digitalization, payment processing, and ancillary products. Serve as a contact for, and actively participate in, industry trade organizations forums and related committees, including: American Financial Services Association Internal committees and/or sub-committees Stay up to date with industry trends with ongoing training and development, continued legal training (focused on consumer regulatory compliance), including industry conferences and legal webinars. Foster ongoing communication amongst the compliance team to ensure consistency across the organization. Assist the Senior Director, Regulatory Compliance as requested. Serve as secondary and supporting counsel for regulatory compliance legal issues per request or in the absence of the Senior Director, Regulatory Compliance. Assist the Regulatory Compliance Team as needed. Performs other related work as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in business, or related major & JD Degree from accredited law school. Desired – Compliance certification (e.g. AFIP or NAF). 5-7 years automotive finance or related financial services experience. Legal research. Statutory interpretation. Systemic knowledge of financial services operations. Highly detail oriented. Excellent decision making, problem solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to work autonomously. Familiarity with state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to marketing and ancillary products in the automotive leasing and retail lending arena. Ability to research and analyze complex legal sources. Knowledge of statutory construction and interpretation. Specialized training in consumer, legal and regulatory requirements. Experience within a federally regulated financial institution, supporting the compliance and/or legal functions. Experience managing vendors and suppliers. Experience working with IT and systems professionals. Foreign language.
