ProfileLitigation Assistant (Entry Level) The candidate will work closely with, and under the immediate direction of the Litigation Resource Manager, litigation attorneys, and others as assigned. Will contribute to the success in this position are a strong work ethic. Perform general case management. Perform legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, the internet and various government agency sites. Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal memoranda. File court documents. Identify and submit legal documents for docketing, court and case deadlines using firm software. Management of ongoing assigned court and case deadlines. Assist attorneys with reviewing, organizing, and summarizing case materials, mail, and other case related documents. Assist in preparation of matrices, charts, and spreadsheets as needed. Assist in preparation of privilege log. Create, revise, and proofread documents with high accuracy. Assist with mediation and trial preparation. Keep accurate time records for both billable and non-billable tasks.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably be undergraduate degree and/or ABA approved paralegal certificate. Prior litigation experience as a legal secretary and/or junior paralegal is preferred. Should read, write and communicate fluent English; ability to compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; ability to communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone. Should have proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Adobe and PowerPoint)
