Senior Contracts Manager The candidate will draft, negotiate and execute master services agreements and supply agreements, development agreements, collaboration agreements, SOWs, academic collaborations, technology feasibility agreements, small licenses, consortia, material transfer agreements and other agreements. Work with R&D business clientele to understand the needs of the business and determine the appropriate agreement to meet those needs. Balance the needs of competing stakeholders, including Legal, AbbVie, and the individual business unit. Consider various strategic sourcing strategies and actively help manage certain significant vendors, including reviewing and analyzing the performance of vendors and the quality of services being provided. Manage relationships between R&D business clientele and outside vendors. Communicate status of negotiations with key stakeholders. Balance the needs and priorities of various R&D business clientele. Provide alliance management support for certain agreements. Ensure compliance with Global Purchasing delegation, including signatory authority and its delegation, and ensure compliance with all applicable Purchasing, OEC, R&D, Finance, Legal and Corporate policies. Promote as a partner of choice in all external communications and dealings and work to build the brand.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a college degree. Science is preferred(BS, MS, PhD.). Should have a JD, MBA, paralegal degree or equivalent contracting/licensing experience. Should have 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience or transactional experience. Should have good judgment and ability to identify and address critical issues, strong licensing or contracting skills and an ability to manage multiple projects, sense of urgency and drive for successful business outcome in all activities, project management skills to handle a high volume of contracts/projects. Should have good communication and relationship management skills with a strong customer support focus.
