Assistant General Counsel The candidate will work collaboratively with business leaders across the company organization to manage responses to significant, high-stakes claims matters arising both in and outside the U.S., including litigation, regulatory investigations and enforcement actions, and other potentially brand-impacting matters. Work encompasses both proactive planning to mitigate identified risks and reactive strategic and tactical decision-making in response to emerging risks and claims. Understand the unique structures used, and the risks faced, by global professional service networks; assess risks and provide legal and strategic advice that takes into account the complexities of our organization. Analyze and evaluate complex legal, factual and professional standards issues. Manage the use of outside counsel, including reviewing of budgets, staffing, and litigation plans. Directly participate in witness preparation, the retention of experts, pretrial dispositive motion practice, determination of settlement value, developing and executing negotiation strategies, and trial preparation. Work collaboratively with Global Office of General Counsel resources such as forensic auditors and paralegals. Must have J.D. from a top law school; active membership in at least one state bar. Should have 7+ years as a practicing litigator at a major law firm or in the legal department of a major company and/or governmental agency. Must have experience with auditor liability claims and regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings. Must have experience with US regulators, including the PCAOB and SEC. Must be an excellent cross-cultural communicator who can use appropriate (and varied) interpersonal skills with Member Firm leaders and representatives to provide legal and strategic counsel and guidance. Experience with non-US regulators is also preferred. Foreign language skills are a plus.
