Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 5-7 years of experience. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex privacy litigation and transactional matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in state and federal privacy laws (such as CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA), as well as expertise in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management. This position is open to candidates interested in working in Chicago, Dallas, or other firm offices with a hybrid schedule and weekly in-office expectations.

Location:

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with privacy and cybersecurity laws (., CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state biometric and health laws)
  • Handle privacy-related litigation, including class action cases
  • Draft and negotiate vendor and customer service agreements
  • Support breach response efforts and manage risk
  • Counsel clients on compliance issues, risk mitigation, and data privacy strategies
  • Collaborate with partners and colleagues on privacy and cybersecurity matters
  • Contribute to business development efforts and maintain client relationships
  • Engage in continuous professional development and knowledge sharing

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Significant experience in privacy litigation or transactional work, particularly in drafting vendor and service agreements
  • Proficiency in state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and other sector-specific regulations
  • Experience with breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management
  • Admission to the State Bar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and complex legal matters

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited . law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification is preferred, but not required

Skills:

  • Expertise in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Strong litigation and transactional drafting experience
  • Knowledge of breach response processes and risk management
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines
