Academic Year Legal Internship
The intern will join Asset Forfeiture Division. The Asset Forfeiture Group is part of the Special Investigations Unit and is responsible for handling the MDAO’s civil litigation matters. Student interns will be responsible for assisting trial attorneys in legal research, drafting complaints, drafting motions, drafting oppositions, drafting and responding to discovery requests, and trial preparation. Legal Interns assist prosecutors in the Juvenile, District, and Superior Courts and the Appeals and Training Bureau. First year law students gain experience in legal research, writing, and case preparation. Second year law students who are certified under SJC Rule 3:03 may appear in Juvenile and District Courts as a student prosecutor, supervised by an Assistant District Attorney. Student interns research evidentiary issues, draft motions and memoranda in opposition to defense motions, assist with discovery compliance and trial exhibits, take notes during trial regarding trial testimony, etc.
