IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) Responsibilities: Collaborate with intelligence analysts/targeting organizations involved in related areas. Conduct in-depth research and analysis. Evaluate threat decision-making processes. Generate requests for information. Identify threat tactics and methodologies. Brief threat and/or target current situations. Monitor and report changes in threat dispositions, activities, tactics, capabilities, objectives, etc. as related to designated cyber operations warning problem sets. Monitor and report on validated threat activities. Monitor open source websites for hostile content directed towards organizational or partner interests. Monitor operational environment and report on adversarial activities which fulfill leadership's priority information requirements. Document and escalate incidents (including event's history, status, and potential impact for further action) that may cause ongoing and immediate impact to the environment. Perform event correlation using information gathered from a variety of sources within the enterprise to gain situational awareness and determine the effectiveness of an observed attack.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications for GS-09 grade level: In addition to the above requirement, must have 1+ years of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level performing the following duties: supporting, accessing, and reviewing information system assessments identifying cyber vulnerability; identifying relevant critical infrastructure issues based on cybersecurity operations, and generating reports addressing identified IT hardware and software vulnerabilities; OR Successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Qualifications for GS-11 grade level: In addition to the above requirement, must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level performing the following duties: service, with experience in performing at least one of the following duties: assisting in the development of long-range plans for IT national security systems; providing technical advice and guidance on significant information security problems and issues; and ensuring integration of security programs with other IT programs and services; OR Successfully completed three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D.; or successfully completed a Ph.D.; or LL.M., a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks at an accredited college or university in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Qualification for GS-12 grade level: In addition to the above requirement you must have 1+ years of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level performing the following duties: service, with experience in performing at least one of the following duties: assisting in the development of long-range plans for IT national security systems; providing technical advice and guidance on significant information security problems and issues, and ensuring integration of security programs with other IT programs and services.
