ProfileVice President - Strategic Investments Group The candidate will reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Strategic Investments Group (SIG). Will be responsible for sourcing, originating, and developing a robust pipeline of new deals; developing new financial assistance programs that are consistent with City policy objectives; structuring and negotiating discretionary incentive packages for a wide variety of company types; guiding deals through the necessary board and public approval processes; and creating and maintaining strong working relationships with external stakeholders. Primary oversight of tax incentive and conduit bond finance projects for both for-profit and not-for-profit entities. Management of two boards of directors, including leading member outreach, approval of all materials, and governance and compliance responsibilities. Frequent presentations to executive staff, boards, and City officials. Lead structuring of projects and negotiation of financial transactions, including creating and executing on creative solutions to ensure triple bottom line outcomes. Coordinate incentive programming with other City and State and quasi-governmental agencies. Build and maintain relationships with real estate developers, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), financial institutions, attorneys, consultants, relevant business groups, civic and community stakeholders, and other professional organizations. Hire, train, supervise, and provide ongoing professional development to junior team members. Demonstrate managerial capabilities, with specific focus on leading and motivating teams, and the ability to set and meet goals, expectations, and deadlines with limited oversight. Collaborate on cross-departmental initiatives, and support community and media engagement efforts. Work with SVP and other department leadership to develop strategic outlook for SIG. Possess a strong sense of professional judgment and ability to solve problems creatively. Exhibit leadership abilities, including interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills, and a strong sense of personal accountability. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Juris Doctorate degree or Master’s Degree in business, real estate or finance. Should have Target work experience of 6-8 years. Must have participated in all stages of the development, financing, and restructuring of complex [secured/unsecured] transactions [particularly in regulated areas]. Prior experience managing corporate board(s) is essential. Experience using spreadsheets, databases, and presentation applications including not to Excel and PowerPoint is essential. Strong project management and interpersonal skill is essential. Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking. Understanding of economic development policies and issues is essential. Familiarity with NYC government and NYC real estate is essential.
