Legal Contract Analyst
The candidate analyzes and negotiates contract terms and conditions for multiple contract types, including, but not limited to purchasing, capital acquisition, maintenance, clinical affiliations, patient transfer, and clinical and non-clinical professional services. Ensures that contracts effectively protect the interests of the organization by managing the entire lifecycle of contracts, from initial review through expiration or termination. Ensures contracts include appropriate provisions in compliance with Hospital policy, accreditation standards, and federal and state healthcare program regulations by using standard Hospital templates, drafting custom contracts, and negotiating the terms of vendor-provided agreements. Provides timely review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts requested by internal clients, through excellent interpersonal, organization, and time management skills. Meets or exceeds departmental goals for contract review turnaround times, while ensuring that each internal client receives the highest level of quality of service available. Communicates with internal management and staff on requested contractual arrangements, business terms and other required information regarding contracts required for healthcare business operations. Maintains and expands knowledge of healthcare contracting issues by proactively seeking out company-sponsored and self-directed training opportunities, including continuing legal education courses. Makes positive contributions to team and organization through ongoing collaboration with colleagues, providing additional legal guidance, supervision and oversight of team members’ contract reviews based upon legal education and experience as requested/directed by Director of Contracting and/or Assistant General Counsel - Contracting, and by serving as a subject matter expert for team members and internal clients, providing counsel on contractual terms and corporate contracting policy in an easy to understand manner. Increases the scope and quality of contracting department services by initiating and managing special department projects.



Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate and 5 years of legal experience in a position negotiating and drafting contracts. Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, and explain contract terms and conditions. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with team members and internal clients. Admission, or eligible for admission, to Kansas bar. Read, write, and speak English. Frontline leadership experience, with the ability to provide guidance and oversight of colleague’s contract reviews, as needed. Ability to prepare both simple and complex legal contracting documents. Ability to draft general correspondence. Ability to coordinate work with others. Ability to communicate well with others (written and oral); customer service skills. Experience with project management skills; multi-tasking skills. Professionalism and experience in maintaining confidentiality. Ability to use initiative and judgement and to make independent decisions within established policies and procedures. Detail-oriented with good organizational skills. Experience in healthcare, regulatory, or commercial law is preferred.
