Counsel and Community Liaison The candidate will support and manage a broad range of legal support for emerging Latino strategy. Including legal and regulatory support for innovative fraternal expression, affinity engagement, community engagement, products, distribution, marketing and local governance/Member Network. Support and manage efforts to: communicate mission to the Latino community; assure mission is advanced and protected through public policy and advance reputation and mission for societal impact. Identify and engage local leaders, influencers and financial experts to build and expand the reputation and impact of the firm. Serve as a key Liaison for the firm in the Latino Community under the direction of Affinity Expansion. Assist in identifying the most important and influential Latino community leaders, churches and organizations in their identified market, with the goal of developing and implementing a community engagement plan that will result in new and trusted relationships. The community plan will provide for financial education and other opportunities for prospective members to connect with the firm and make progress in their journey toward becoming Wise with Money. Support the launch of Buen Camino with our team of Community Guides and leaders in San Antonio. Help as needed in connecting with the Latino community, and setting up and/or conducting workshops as well as Primer Pasos. Provide input and guidance on how we build Buen Camino and the financial education offerings, community outreach, Advisory Board, Hub physical location, products/services offered, and other key design elements. Function as a member of matrixed team(s). Represent effectively to a broad range of external constituencies, industry groups and policymakers. Address other strategic issues as assigned. Cultivate a network of key advisors and stakeholder relationships and identify and engage local leaders, influencers that advance strategies and increase awareness for the organization’s work in communities. Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, pastors and churches by understanding needs and recommending solutions; organize and participate in larger community/congregational events, lead or co-lead with pastors/community leaders; also support and attend fraternal events. Where needed, assist in attracting and launching individuals into the Community Guide role and make introductions to influential leaders and support them in building relationships in their assigned churches. As directed, assist in developing overall community building plan for their geography; assist in building and maintains knowledge of all financial education offerings and other solutions. Partner with other operational leaders in standing up the local Community Hub. Where needed, facilitate workshops and other financial education approaches in order to provide basic financial education concepts that result in greater brand awareness and stronger relationships. Plan and lead other fellowship events that deepen relationships within the congregation (panel discussions, chats). Distribute information about and other local events to congregations and the community. Anticipate and guard against new or developing legal risks facing the company. Provide proactive advice, guidance and strategy regarding legal and regulatory matters as assigned. Identify legal issues outside of general area of expertise and collaborate with other attorneys in their resolution. Must have JD degree, member of the Bar. Should have 3-5 years of relevant, high-quality legal experience and experience in lobbying, government affairs or related activities.
