Practicing Attorney Level II The candidate handles prosecution of a variety of misdemeanor criminal offenses that arise in Laramie County; prepares a variety of court documents and legal memoranda; argues motions before trail court; may on occasion conduct jury and non-jury trials; confers with investigative agencies; directs and coordinates case investigations with law enforcement agencies through all stages of the case; checks, instructs or directs the work of assigned legal assistant and other support staff, as necessary, in preparation of legal documents and coordination of schedules with the court's offices. Handles core assignments rules making, contracts, documents review, client counseling, legal research, opinion writing, appellate briefs, pre-trial assignments (dispositive motions, discovery), trial assignments (preparing witnesses, exhibits, assists in developing & executing strategy, contested cases), oral arguments, settlements. Handles a variety of moderate to serious legal matters and ability to resolve moderate cases with general supervision; assist in preparation of more complex legal matters.Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Juris Doctorate degree. Should have 2-5 years of relevant legal experience. License to practice law in Wyoming is needed. Knowledge of Wyoming criminal statutes and regulations is required. Sill in effective use of available time and resources is must. Skill in communication, persuasive speech on diverse subjects is essential. Knowledge of the rules of criminal procedure and jury instructions is needed.
