Family Law Hotline Attorney The candidate will provide counsel and advice to family violence survivors on the array of legal options available, including protective orders, divorce, custody, visitation, child support, paternity defense, legitimation, name changes, etc. Provide civil legal representation to victims of crime, handling cases potentially in state, federal, and administrative forums. Refer clients as needed for immigration assistance, including T-Visas, U- Visas, and VAWA applications to partners, GAIN (Georgian Asylum and Immigration Network) or others. Refer clients as needed for other holistic services available, including safety planning, shelter, law enforcement assistance, victim assistance, counseling, benefits, and any other community services to assist in safety and economic security. Maintain records and data on the case management system and for the VLAN for research, development, and project activity purposes. Help to recruit and support pro bono attorneys to assist survivors with their legal needs. Assist to create, cataloging, and publish in a variety of formats a directory of existing holistic resource programs for survivors. Facilitate presentations to bar associations and groups of attorneys promoting the development of and participation in holistic civil pro bono program for survivors. Attend statewide and national meetings and conferences as budgetary and grant requirements support. Support applications of technology to the delivery of pro bono legal services; participating in discussions and proposing policy recommendations on the use of technology to develop and expand access to civil legal services for survivors. Provide other legal services as appropriate and as determined by the Project Director.
