Employment Attorney The candidate provides advice and counsel regarding a wide variety of employment law issues, policies and programs acting as a resource to Human Resource professionals and line-managers within the business. Participate in the development of legally sound policies, programs and practices in all areas of employment law including wage and hour compliance, equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, accommodations, family and medical leave, talent acquisition and acquisitions/divestitures/restructuring. Support Human Resources and business line managers by providing timely, on-going on-demand legal counsel and strategic guidance related to the management of employee issues such as performance management, employee misconduct and compliance investigations. Evaluate and provided tactical and strategic advice to manage attorney demand letters, complaints and other employment claims providing legally sound strategies for the companies defense of such actions and negotiating and drafting settlements. Manage and assist outside counsel on labor and employment claims, and perhaps some other focused litigation areas (e.g. - asbestos claims). Research, monitor, analyze and advise on employment law regulations and advise Human Resources on the degree of risk associated with the proposed initiatives recommending a course of action to ensure compliance. Manage and participate as appropriate in investigations. Educate Human Resources and others on trends and legal actions which may effect the workplace through written materials or training seminar. Should have ability to work in a complex organizational structure which includes ET AMS BU and OU Leadership. JD Degree, Active Bar membership needed. Should have 8 years of applicable experience with 4+ years serving as corporate in-house counsel on labor and employment matters. Broad background in providing advice/counsel to human resources in employment matters essential. Experience in interfacing with government or employment agencies with jurisdiction over employment required. Strong oral and written communication and relationship building skills to interact with internal and external contacts matters needed. Strong leadership skills and good judgement with the ability to provide advice from both a legal and a business perspective required.
