ProfileLegal Assistant The candidate must have the ability to perform paralegal support, legal research services and to present factual and legal issues concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing. Will work closely with crime victims seeking U Visa's and will work with Deputy District Attorneys and law enforcement. Locate and review criminal case files and prepare documentation for the approval or denial of requests. Assist in researching, interpreting and applying laws, court decisions and other legal authorities. Maintain case files and statistical reports. Assist the Chief Assistant District Attorney in immigration related questions. Participate in community councils/groups and events as they relate to issues and provide training to community agencies and law enforcement agencies. Serve as a liaison between community resource agencies, attorneys and the Victim Witness Program Assistance Manager. Attend staff or other meetings as requested; confers regularly with staff attorneys. Gather and analyze data and draw conclusions. Various community agencies and organizations that provide legal services to victims of crime. Bilingual skills in English/Spanish are highly desirable. Completion of one year of law school with a recognized legal program OR 2+ years of experience in a legal office performing duties requiring legal research. Application deadline: 12/13/17.
