ProfileFront Office Legal Assistant Duties: Candidate will assist 2 attorneys in the front office. Prepares and processes legal documents and papers, such as case management statements, subpoenas, letters of representation, templates for discovery. Mails , emails or faxes legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials. Receives and places phone calls. Organizes and maintains law libraries, documents, and case files. Schedules and makes appointments. Makes photocopies of correspondence, documents, and other printed matter. Assists attorneys in collecting information. Drafts and types office memos. Distributes invoices to bill clients or pay account expenses. Prepares legal papers and correspondence, such as case management conference statements, templates for discovery. Calendars all appearances for attorneys. Calendars all due dates for motions for attorneys. Schedules depositions, conferences, court calls, attorney-client meetings. Opens and distributes mail daily. Orders office supplies when needed. Supports team to obtain medical records and bills. Assists attorney in preparing exhibits for trial, setting up trial binders. Files documents into office files daily.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: College or established work experience. 3-4 years of related experience. Excellent verbal and written communication with clients, the court, and with attorneys. Active listening. Quick learner. Experience working as a team player. Proficient with word, word perfect, excel. Proficient with Hot Docs program (preferred). Familiar with and comfortable with working in a busy litigation office. Must have legal experience working in a civil litigation office, work well with the public, and be a team player. Experience assisting attorney in trial preparation is a plus.
