Senior Vice President, Intellectual Property The candidate will be responsible for managing firm's Intellectual Property legal function and team which provides leadership, guidance, management, supervision and support in a highly collaborative environment to firm's businesses globally. Will drive, lead, manage, and support in the enhancement and development of the IP policies, strategies, practices and processes to enable, extend and defend firm's business globally. As the leader of firm's Intellectual Property Legal team, this lawyer will reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer. IP legal support, guidance and leadership for commercial matters. Firm's-wide Compliance Program with respect to IP training. Open source use and contribution policies and practices. Patent Development and Incentive Programs, Branding and Trademark legal practices. Trade Secret protection practices. Freedom to Operate practices. All aspects of IP litigation. IP M&A due diligence. Maintain and enhance firm's proactive invention harvesting and patent protection program to ensure that all commercially important, novel inventions are protected. Identify, develop and manage any potential patent sale or acquisition opportunities as appropriate. Represent firm's to external IP benchmarking organizations. Leading and managing firm's use of outside IP counsel. Managing the IP Expense Budget. Develop the IP Legal Team. Other duties as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 10+ years practice as an Intellectual Property attorney with significant experience in: patents with proficiency in reading and understanding patent claims and exposure, trademarks, trade secret protection, commercial transactions, IP litigation, commercial and technology. licensing including the right to use/freedom to operate product clearance investigation. Must be registered as a patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and must be a member in good standing of the State Bar state of residence or New York or New Jersey. Experience working with and advising senior corporate leaders is required. Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science preferred. Experience in Media business a plus.
