A law firm seeks a skilled Financial Services Associate Attorney to join its team in Baltimore, MD. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in regulatory compliance, creditors’ rights, and commercial loan transactions. This role offers the opportunity to engage in significant client interaction while handling lending, deposit regulations, loan transactions, and collections. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, business acumen, and an aptitude for creative problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Assist with regulatory compliance related to lending and deposits, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations
  • Manage loan transactions, workouts, and collections for both consumer and commercial loans
  • Handle creditors' rights issues, including advising clients on legal strategies for collections and loan enforcement
  • Engage with clients to provide legal counsel and strategic advice on financial transactions and regulatory matters
  • Draft and review loan documentation, agreements, and related legal documents
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to handle complex legal matters and develop case strategies
  • Assume responsibility for managing key client relationships and projects, including first-chairing certain initiatives
  • Participate in the business development process by identifying opportunities and contributing to client generation efforts

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in lending and deposit regulatory compliance, loan transactions, workouts, and collections
  • Knowledge of consumer and commercial loan documentation and lending laws/regulations is a plus
  • Strong analytical, writing, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively and provide practical solutions to complex legal challenges
  • Experience managing projects and clients with increasing responsibility
  • A proactive, client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Maryland State Bar (or eligibility for admission)

  • Expertise in lending and deposit regulatory compliance, loan transactions, and collections
  • Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills
  • Strong oral communication and negotiation abilities
