Staff Attorney, Housing Program The candidate will provide direct legal services to CGLA clients for housing matters, including representation in court and administrative proceedings, maintaining a manageable caseload proportionate to other responsibilities. Will work with the Client Support Services Program (Social Work Team) to ensure that clients are served in meaningful ways beyond the delivery of legal services. Supervise volunteers and interns handling housing matters. Cultivate and manage relationships with partner agencies and organizations that refer clients to CGLA as assigned. Conduct community outreach to partners and community members. Facilitate housing law trainings as assigned throughout the year for prospective volunteers, including lawyers, law firms, and law students. Collaborate with fellow attorneys and others as needed to prepare and distribute educational materials for housing matters. Maintain up-to-date client information in CGLA’s case management system to ensure accurate data collection and statistical tracking. Keep abreast of changes in the law and participate in trainings to further legal knowledge and skills. Attend weekly client intake meetings, as well as regular staff and administrative meetings. Design legal manuals and other materials for clients, attorneys, courts and other personnel as assigned. Works with the CGLA leadership team to ensure all program goals are met each fiscal year.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must be Licensed to practice in Illinois. Must have 1+ year of experience in civil litigation, preferably in housing law. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills is required.
