## Senior Associate General Counsel UnitedHealthcare is looking for a qualified attorney for a senior position in the legal department leading the West Region for the Network Legal Team. This role provides an opportunity to make a difference in people's lives and build a healthier health care system. **Job Responsibilities:** - Lead the West Region for the Network Legal Team, which includes 13 markets: Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada Idaho, Utah, Montana, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. - Manage a team of attorneys and legal professionals. - Directly support the California market. - Serve as counsel to senior leadership in the development, structuring and execution of all aspects of the company’s relationships with healthcare providers. - Draft and negotiate contracts with our largest and most complex health care provider partners. - Manage the resolution of disputes, support arbitration proceedings and draft settlement agreements. - Acquire deep knowledge of the industry and the specific business practices of the company’s provider network operations. **Required Qualifications:** - Juris Doctorate degree - License to practice law in one or more states - 8+ years of relevant professional legal experience in an attorney capacity - Experience in advising senior leadership on legal matters - Experience with drafting and negotiating complex contracts - Experience collaborating across a matrixed business and legal environment - Understanding of health insurance and managed care industry - Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations - Proven ability to drive results - Proven solid work ethic - Proven well-developed written and verbal communications skills - Proven ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal course of action to meet business needs - Proven ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates and external company contacts **Preferred Qualifications:** - Experience managing pre-litigation matters - Experience with healthcare regulatory agencies - Experience managing a legal team - Understanding of healthcare benefit coverage **Salary Range:** The salary range for this position is $142,300 to $273,200 for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island and Washington residents.
