Banking Real Estate Paralegal The candidate will work closely with the Attorneys and Paralegals to assist with syndicated loan transactions from due diligence through closing and on to post closing matters. Significant knowledge in regards to all Real Estate matters required. Independent and collaborative work with the banking partners, legal assistants and Business Development to maintain banking databases is also required. Trains, mentors and guides incoming Corporate Legal Assistants and Real Estate Corporate Paralegals on the job responsibilities and tasks of a Banking Real Estate Paralegal. Take a proactive leadership role to help develop incoming legal assistant skills and knowledge. Work cohesively with all attorneys and provides explanatory assistance when requested. Provide real estate information, forms and documents. Order and/or review surveys, title commitments, pro-formas and flood hazard forms. Prepare necessary checklists and documents. Assist with drafting and filing mortgages, deeds of trust, amendments and releases, which may include legal descriptions. Has extensive knowledge on how to complete and where to file such documents. Assist at closings. Check, draft, notarize and revise documents as necessary. Confer with title company with respect to title commitments and legal descriptions. Compare final title policies against marked-up commitments presented at closing and submits them to the title company for revision. Assist with indexes, organizing and maintaining real estate transaction and flood hazard determination form binders. Coordinate all post closing correspondence and deliverables in regards to mortgages, title policies and flood hazard determination forms. Independently and with the Senior Banking Real Estate Paralegal, follows up on any outstanding items. Proactively reviews and brings to an attorney’s attention any potential problems existing within a transaction. Make suggestions on how to rectify the situation. Correspond and confer with outside parties, service companies, title companies and surveyors to ensure quality service. Independently follows up on any outstanding items. Assist with the creation of real estate post-closing document-tracking charts to maintain clear records of all recorded documents and title policies received. Ensure that all correspondence and documents have been sent to Records. Post all real estate documents to the banking transaction synopses database. Maintain Banking Group closed deal transaction database on a daily basis, researching and calling the appropriate attorneys and/or partners to obtain up-to-date closed deal information. Draft Banking Group transactional summaries for Business Development and assists with league table submissions. Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years experience as a legal assistant in a corporate Real Estate or Banking practice required. Advanced knowledge of word processing and database applications required. Ability to work well under pressure and follow instructions required.
