Associate General Counsel – E&I Legal Compliance and Regulatory Affairs - US Telecommute The candidate will respond timely to requests for legal assistance from company’s state and regional health plan officers and other executives. Provide document review and guidance to the company’s teams that produce and negotiate contracts to support the commercial group health insurance business in compliance with both state and federal (ERISA) commercial group health insurance regulations. Leads the management and resolution of issues involving company’s commercial customers, including with state and/or federal regulators. Identify and engage the appropriate internal stakeholders and resources in issues resolution. Research state and federal regulations, and case law pertaining to the management of group health plans. Provides support to litigation and appeals teams as needed. Manage the protection of company’s proprietary information in accordance with company’s data governance policies and applicable state laws, including the negotiation of confidential disclosure agreements and responding to public information requests. Engages with company’s underwriting and excess reinsurance teams. Negotiates multiple party group policy contracts for company’s Collaborative Ventures Group (CVG). Works closely with other LCRA subject matter experts including within the regional regulatory affairs, litigation, privacy, clinical, appeals, provider network contracting and group policy development and behavioral health. Collaborate with company’s operations and administrative teams including, banking, employer/customer implementation/installation and underwriting.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have JD degree. Bar admission required. Must have 5+ years of professional legal experience. Knowledge of U.S., state contract, corporate health care and/or regulatory law. Prior managed care or health insurance regulatory legal experience required. Strong understanding of health insurance and/or managed care industry. Experience with regulatory agencies and administrative experience with state insurance regulations essential. Demonstrated understanding of business problems related to assigned legal projects. Well developed written and verbal communications skills. Ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal course of action to meet business unit needs. Ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates, and external company.
