Paralegal – Medical Legal Partnership The candidate will serve in this position as either Staff Attorney or an exceptionally qualified Paralegal in an exciting medical-legal partnership between FIRM and the West Volusia Hospital Authority (WVHA) in Volusia County. Will do direct legal services to underserved, low-income clients; educating healthcare providers on assessing health-harming legal needs; and supporting the firm’s overall mission in the area served under the grant. Areas of practice for the Medical-Legal Partnership include public benefits, housing, and other civil legal matters. Reporting to the Managing Attorney, the Medical-Legal Partnership Staff Attorney or Paralegal serves as the designated liaison between FIRM, stakeholders throughout the provider community, non-profit leaders, and a wide array of human service entities. Responsible for cultivating, and coordinating effective working relationships, from inception to follow up to assure firm’s impact to individuals served in Volusia County. Must be admitted to practice law in Florida or possess Certification as a Paralegal with commensurate experience. Should have 2-4 years’ experience as a lawyer or Paralegal. Commitment to low-income/vulnerable clients and communities on legal matters; experience working or volunteering in a health or human services setting is preferred. Spoken and written fluency in English and Spanish is preferred. Should have excellent legal and community partnership skills and be computer literate (Microsoft Office 365). Valid Florida automobile license, use of own auto, and proof of insurance is necessary.
